Presentation

A free full-time training program, from 21 September 2026 to 4 January 2027 with an optional professional project with a company/institution between January and March 2026.

Program

I. Data Science techniques

Core curriculum (300 hours of theory and practice)

  • Introduction to Data science in Health and Life sciences
  • Data collection in Health and Life sciences
  • Statistical modelling
  • Machine learning
  • Introduction to Large Language Models
  • R and Python for Data Science (manipulation, visualisation and analysis)
  • Introduction to cloud computing
  • Regulatory and security frameworks (GDPR and cybersecurity principles)
  • Data Integrity
  • Soft skills (change management, digital transition and communication, job research)

 

II. Choice of orientation

160 hours of theory and practice

How are Data Science and AI revolutionising pharmaceutical development?

  • Drug discovery & Non-clinical Development
  • Health data sources (e-health plan in Belgium, Health Information Systems (HIS), Clinical Decision Support System)
  • AI and digital medicine law (+ bioethics, ethics and liability in digital medicine)
  • Clinical Trial Data Collection, Analysis, and Real-World Data Integration
  • Market access
  • Health Economics & Pharmacovigilance
  •  Clinical processes, workflows in a medical environment and the specific needs of healthcare professionals
  • Health data sources (e-health plan in Belgium, Health Information Systems (HIS), Clinical Decision Support System)
  • AI and digital medicine law (+ bioethics, ethics and liability in digital medicine)
  • E-health and digital health software
  • Overview of digital maturity in biotechnology
  • Fundamentals of cellular and molecular biology & bioinformatics commitment
  • Using Python and R for high-throughput techniques applied to genomics, epigenomics, proteomics and metabolomics
  • Image processing and associated data analysis
  • Bioproduction and associated data analysis

Course Dates

From 21 September 2026 to 4 January 2027, plus a possible two-month internship starting on 5 January.

First information session on Monday 22 June 2026 from 10am to 12pm (Teams)

Second information session on 31 August 2026 from 10am to 12pm, followed by the selection test from 12pm to 1.30pm

Duration

  • 460 hours of training towards a professional practice
  • 360 hours dedicated to a professional project

Location

  • ULB-HeLSci Gosselies & remote
  • Professional project partly on the company or institution’s site

Admission

Target Audience

  • Bachelor’s in science
  • Bachelor’s in IT
  • Any Master and/or PhD degree
  • Other degree (subject to acceptance by the admissions Jury)

Only accessible to jobseekers (over the age of 30)

Pre-requisite

  • B2 English and French level (Training is 75% in English and 25% in French)

  • Affinity with programming and/or statistics

Jobseekers : Free

The @data training course will run 21 September 2026 to 4 January 2027.

You must be available from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Attendance is mandatory. Distance learning courses will not be available on a deferred basis.
